Purpose of job

The Legal Cashier will join a team of 5 cashiers and will be jointly responsible for the day to day operations of the Cashier team, with a focus on both client account and office account whilst ensuring strict adherence with the Solicitor Accounts Rules. 

Responsibilities
  • Providing expertise on technical cashiering matters including postings and reconciliations, firm controls as well as compliance aspects affecting the team including AML guidelines and Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Ensuring all transactions on the client and office bank accounts are posted on a daily basis, in accordance with KN policies and the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • A main point of contact for client account transactions, liaising with partners, fee earners, external clients and the bank as appropriate
  • Running the daily sub ledger reconciliations
  • Processing office and client payments using the Aderant account system while adhering to internal service levels and SAR guidelines
  • Performing reconciliations of the office/client account and deputyship accounts, reporting any differences to manager for investigation
  • Input and payment of professional disbursements
  • Ensuring client residual balances are reviewed, monitored and cleared in accordance with firm policy
  • Performing and allocating the quarterly interest calculations
  • Responsible for opening and closing deposit bank accounts
  • Monitoring the office credit balances and conducting monthly catch ups with the Immigration team.
  • Posting and payment of staff expenses and supplier invoices
  • To provide ad hoc support to the Cashier Manager as required with respect to cashiering matters
  • Sharing the responsibility of maintaining the Cashiers inbox
  • Contributing to cashiering projects and initiatives to streamline processes and improve team performance
  • Responsible for downloading and posting transactions using Barclays Precision Pay
  • Assisting with SRA Accounts Rules audit and LLP Audit
  • Ensuring all filing is completed on a daily basis
