We also work with many City professionals, particularly those who work in finance, property development and law. Almost all our clients have international assets and family spread throughout the world and we help them to structure their affairs in the way that they want. |
The Professional Support Lawyer will sit in the Private Client team and be part of a newly created Knowledge function at Kingsley Napley; one that is closely aligned with the firm’s Innovation and Client Solutions strategy. This development reflects the growth of the firm, how we operate in a fast-moving technological landscape and the capturing and sharing of high-quality knowledge.
The firm’s PSLs play a pivotal role in the firm’s overall Knowledge strategy; helping to develop and harness our unique knowledge-sharing culture and drive overall efficiency and profitability.
The PSL will sit at the heart of the Private Client team, supporting the fee-earners & partners on complex areas of law. Knowledge management, know-how and training will sit as a core foundation of this role, but the position also lends itself to driving change through future focussed horizon scanning and working with the wider Knowledge, Legal Operations and Innovation teams.
The key services of the Private Client team include: wills and lasting powers of attorney, probate and estate administration, capital tax planning – inheritance tax and capital gains tax, court of protection and deputyship, succession and estate planning for domestic and international clients, trusts and family office services. |
Know-How, Training & Development:
- Leading and facilitating knowledge-sharing within the Private Client practice group and helping to develop a collaborative, knowledge-based culture
- Monitoring practice and legal developments and supporting fee earners with tactical advice and application of the law
- Informing the Private Client team of legal and industry developments and trends, articulating how they will affect the practice and its clients
- Developing, producing and maintaining precedents, practice notes, checklists/ toolkits and other forms of know-how. Building and maintaining an effective & accessible system for the collection of knowledge resources for all lawyers in the team
- Drafting and coordinating current awareness updates, client alerts and other publications
- Facilitating and leading internal lectures/ seminars and training sessions and sharing best practice with the group and wider Knowledge function
Business Development & Marketing:
- Supporting the BD & marketing objectives of the team through the collation and production of articles, case studies, thought-leadership pieces and other such material to be published externally (Chambers and Legal 500)
- Horizon scanning, research and competitor analysis and feeding in updates and ideas around new client opportunities
Innovation/ Efficiency:
- Working with the Private Client team’s Legal Operations Manager on projects aimed at driving operational efficiencies, including support and guidance on the use of AI / legal tech
- Working with other PSLs across the firm to support cross-practice initiatives and the consistent application of good practices in respect of knowledge management
- Working across the wider Knowledge and Innovation teams to identify business and client needs for legal technology, or other tools, and give insights on cost-effective solutions.
