Purpose of job

The Legal Cashier will join a team of 5 cashiers and will be accountable for the day to day operations of the Cashier team, with a strong focus on the client account and ensuring strict adherence with the Solicitor Accounts Rules.

Responsibilities

Specific duties:                        

 

  • Providing expertise on technical cashiering matters including postings and reconciliations, firm controls as well as compliance aspects affecting the team i.e. AML guidelines and Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Ensuring all transactions on the client bank accounts are posted on a daily basis, in accordance with KN policies and the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Sharing the main point of contact for client account transactions, liaising with partners, fee earners, external clients and the bank as appropriate
  • Ensuing client residual balances are reviewed, monitored and cleared in accordance with firm policy
  • Performing and allocating the quarterly interest calculations
  • Responsible for opening and closing all deposit bank accounts
  • Running the daily sub ledger reconciliations
  • Assisting with office related receipts and payments, adhering to internal service levels and SAR guidelines
  • Assisting with payment and posting of partner capital interest, partner tax and profit distributions to partners
  • Contributing to cashiering projects and initiatives to streamline processes and improve team performance
  • Performing reconciliations of the office account and deputyship accounts, reporting any differences to supervisor for investigation
  • Monitoring and providing assistance in relation to office credit balances
  • Providing cover for the posting of professional disbursements
  • Posting of firms expenses
  • To provide ad hoc support to the Cashier Supervisor as required with respect to cashiering matters
  • Assisting with SRA Accounts Rules audit and LLP Audit
  • Ensuring all filing is completed on a daily basis.
