Purpose of job

We are looking for an outstanding and well-established Personal Injury Senior Associate to join our team. You will work closely with the Partners of this busy department, as well as the Head of Team, to provide expert advice to the firm’s clients. You will assist with marketing and business development initiatives and help to build out and enhance the Personal Injury offering in the team.  

Responsibilities

Specific duties:                         

  • To work, as part of a team, advising the firm’s clients on complex claimant personal injury claims
  • Taking the lead on complex matters and handling a mixed caseload of RTAs, accidents at work/ school, military claims and sexual abuse claims
  • Preparing and investigating facts around claims; liaising with witnesses, taking witness statements and instructing experts 
  • Undertaking case work on liability, causation and quantum issues, adhering to procedural and funding guidelines and limits
  • Demonstrating a strong awareness and understanding of medical issues and how to investigate and apply these to the law in the best interests of the client
  • Demonstrating an excellent awareness and understanding of quality management standards (including risk assessment, funding guidelines and the firm’s procedures) and financial management of files (WIP, disbursements, billing and profitability) and working so as to meet or exceed chargeable hours targets
  • Working with the Partners and Head of Team to raise own profile internally and externally in the PI arena
  • Assisting heavily with the department’s/ firm’s marketing efforts; identifying and developing new potential sources of referrals, maintaining and developing links with existing referrers of work and raising the department’s and firm’s profile.
