The Programme Manager will work with the Head of IT Transformation & Change to oversee all programmes and projects within the IT Portfolio. This includes managing Project Managers and a PMO Lead (team of four). This role entails managing complex programmes and projects, requiring expertise in large-scale project delivery. The Programme Manager will ensure effective communication, timely delivery, and budget compliance, collaborating with stakeholders of all levels across the firm. They must understand the best practices and governance structures for efficient programme and project execution. |
Portfolio & Programme Management
- Assist the firm and IT team in implementing the Digital Transformation Programme. As well as overseeing the IT portfolio of projects, Legal Operations initiatives, and innovation projects
- Managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Ensuring programme/project benefits are identified, tracked, and achieved at key stages. Collaborating with project sponsors and key stakeholders to integrate business changes impacted by these benefits
- Drive and facilitate the coordinated scheduling and prioritisation of projects and resources to align with the firm’s priorities, vision, and objectives, working in conjunction with Project Management Office
- Understanding the dependencies and interrelationships between various projects within the firm’s portfolio; using skills and knowledge to avoid clashes, pinch-points, and issues in project delivery
- Guiding project teams to integrate change into the firm’s processes and culture
Project Management
- Ensuring the project team and stakeholders understand and align with all project requirements
- Acting as the first point of escalation and resolution for all project related risk/issues deriving from the project team, escalating to the project team, project sponsor and PMO as required
- Review or create all project related documentation (liaising with project resources and experts as required), including but not limited to; Project Scope, Business Cases, Requirements Documentation, PIDs, RAID logs, Project and Stage Plans, Test Scripts and Plans, Training Plans, Project Reporting, Change Management and Benefits Realisation Analysis Reports
- Taking oversight of project finances, including budget spend to date, forecast to close and regular reporting on budget health
- Strong resource planning/ stakeholder management with up to date project status via clear communication and strong reporting, including exception and highlight reporting
- Ensuring the programmes/ projects adhere to governance framework defined by the PMO
Project Management Office Support
- Ensure that the mechanisms through which the Project Management Office operate (and its interaction with the firm’s Management team) are suitable for the needs of the business
- Alongside the Head of IT Transformation & Change and PMO Lead, contribute to refining the governance model used for project delivery, including formalising, implementing, streamlining, prioritising, resourcing oversight, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting
- Biweekly Project Management Office meetings and conducting post-project analysis
Line Management
- Leadership, supervision and day-to-day management of Project Managers and PMO Lead
- Establishing goals and objectives, conducting appraisals, delivering feedback, and identifying the team's training and development needs
- Ensuring effective allocation of resources and workloads across IT project portfolio and adjusting resource allocation as priorities shift
- Updating the team on key decisions, risks, and changes; ensuring clarity around roles, expectations, and deliverables
- Dealing as appropriate with issue management and escalating issues appropriately
